When's the last time you talked with a stranger?
I’m not talking about a convo at a bar, a quick exchange at the coffee shop or a passing interaction.
I’m talking a full-on conversation about something interesting, something that made you think, forced you to develop thoughtful responses and resulted in some personal insight…
I’m guessing it’s been weeks and weeks (especially with quarantine)
But even before we shut off the outside world, when was the last time?
Pop Your Bubble
I’m 30, white, work from my laptop, enjoy escapade-ing in nature, live in an urban city and have traveled outside the country.
Same with most of my friends.
Those characteristics make up a tinyyyyyyy fraction of the world yet a significant amount of my life.
My bubble means I hang out with a lot of people that are kinda sorta like me.
That’s not always a good thing.
There are so many ways to live out there!
When day to day life looks similar and the patterns repeat, we can start to forget that other people have different perspectives, different backgrounds, different stories, different views of the world…literally different everything.
And that’s a good thing because:
Diversity is important.
Shaking up your world perspective is important.
Getting out of your story is important.
Shifting perspective is important.
Conversations Changed My Life
Sitting around hostel dinner tables, Couch Surfing in different countries, asking strangers to eat lunch together and talking to people decades older has undoubtedly made my life better.
And it will for you, too.
So go have more convos with strangers…
Want to try it out ASAP? Join this week’s LIVE A GREAT STORY Convo to connect with people of all backgrounds, ages and interests. The topic is “Impact.”
