Social Distancing from my Phone
I spend an absurd amount of time on my phone, especially lately.
Last week my girlfriend went out of town, freeing up a lot of my time, which was sadly filled with even more phone time.
It sucks. It’s a waste. It’s unproductive. It’s addicting.
I know you know that feeling of almost absent-mindedly reaching for your phone right after you put it down.
What a gross feeling.
I’ve wrote about this before… and now I’m back.
Yes, it’s important for *insert 2020-era excuses* but is it really?
In the last couple weeks, I’ve become increasingly aware that it isn’t.
Thinking back to pre-Covid, I was doing great about NOT being on my phone.
I used to go into a coffee shop and leave my phone in the car until about 12. I was so productive in the mornings, crushing work, not checking meaningless apps, repeatedly.
So I’m going back to that… but from home.
I’m on this month-ish long level up journey, and now two weeks in, I’ve realized I need to socially distance myself from my phone.
So starting tonight, I’m going to put my phone in my glovebox overnight and not get it until sometime in the late morning or early afternoon.
I’m going back to a habit I once said was my only productivity habit.
