Reading Cross Eyed at 3:11am
Some days just get away from me, packed with commitments, obligations and activities.
Yesterday was one of the days and I almosttt fell off my 30 day goal.
The Saturday started off with a run, meditation, journaling and work work work.
I was computering all morning, writing emails for a brand I’m building a marketing strategy with.
These were specifically “Product Fulfillment” emails that customers will receive after their order is placed but before their items arrive.
After my morning routine, I had the full second half of the morning to work on it with the only two commitments of meeting up with my girlfriend to talk about finances and goal setting and then a 2:30 rendezvous with some friends for a kayak meet up on Lady Bird Lake.
The emails took foreverrrrrr.
I kept pushing back the meeting with my girlfriend, touching base every hour or so to let her know it would be later and later and later.
I finally finished the emails and she came over and we talked and then the lake…
But I still had to read, my last ✅ for the day…
The lake was epic and that turned into food and that turned into a text from a friend about hanging out and soon enough we were headed to a house get together.
Long story short, as party go, we didn’t get home until 3am…
And I still had to read…
But I didn’t have my book…
And I was exhausted…
But I still had to read…
I redownloaded the Kindle app, started reading from Lewis Howe’s School of Greatness. A couple paragraphs and then I would wake up.
A few more lines… eyes closed… wake up…
I really have no idea how much I read. My girlfriend was crashed and here I was sitting on the couch at 3 in the morning trying to read so I can finish my 30 days…
I have 3 more days!!
Was this reading the most valuable? No, I hardly remember what I read.
Did it count as “reading”? Yes, I think so, and I crossed off “Read” on my list.
