Broke My Streak on Day 28/30 😔

Since April 10th I’ve been trying to go 30 days straight doing five simple tasks :

  1. Read

  2. Meditate

  3. Journal

  4. Publish

  5. Sweat

Five simple tasks, every day, mainly as an exercise in pracitcing consistency.

Overall, I’m very persistent and keep going and going and going… just not very consistently.

So mid-Covid, I knew I needed to take some time to dive into figuring out my next step.

After six years of LIVE A GREAT STORY, a business downturn in Q4 2019, turning 30, a serious relationship and then Covid, I needed to do some deep introspection.

And these five things, daily, for 30 days were a big part of creating the consistency, focus and space to help me determine the next steps.

14 days into the first go, I broke my streak due a camping trip.

And now, 28 days in, just two days from 30!!!! I broke my streak because….

There’s a because, of course.

But because’s is one of the reasons I was working on this.

There’s always a because, a justification, a rationalization… always.

There’s not always tenacity, see-it-through-ness and finish strong.

And that’s what I was after.

But it didn’t happen.

On the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, after 3:00 am night of drinking after not drinking for 22 days, a boat rental on Lake Travis… I didn’t sweat.

And by the time I got home that night after stopping for a Hula Hut pipeline burrito, there was just no way of sweating…

Or maybe there was!

I still had to read…

So I got to the couch to read, picked up this book that I really don’t even like and started reading.

And the next thing I know, I’m waking up at 7am.

I failed.

Two days to the finish line.
