Data: Nobody Clicks on Insta
After almost a month of writing daily, it’s interesting to look at the data.
5% of the traffic came from Instagram
72% came from Facebook
What’s it mean? Here’s some ideas:
Instagram is more visual so people scrolling their feed probably aren’t in a mood to read
The feed doesn’t have links, requiring more clicks and time to go from scrolling to reading
"Link in Bio” at the end of a caption gets downgraded *my theory*
No “Swipe Up” in stories for us plebeians
Posting daily on Insta is hard, requiring more work than a quick sentence and a link
I haven’t posted as much on Insta for these reasons… but maybe there’s a solution
More frequent feed posts with longer captions taken from the blog post to increase engagement and value in feed, which sets a hook for other posts later
Highlight every post in IG Stories
Incentivize clicks (giveaways, contest, downloads)
I don’t really have much data on this from before this month, so I wasn’t sure what would happen, though I’m kind of surprised that the clicks are so skewed towards Facebook.
Maybe that’s a good thing for advertisers on IG since they’re the only clickable option?
