Zach Horvath Common Vandal LIVE A GREAT STORY

Hi.

Let’s chat about the rollercoaster of life and how amazing it is to be on the ride

Keep doing what you want to keep doing

Keep doing what you want to keep doing

I saw a video the other day about a skateboarder “who’s been skating at this park for 35 year”.

The guy seemed to be in his late 40’s to early 50’s and I had the thought, “How is he still skating? Isn’t his body wrecked from all of the falls and injuries?”

Then I realized that he just never stopped. His body was used to it. He was proficient. It was probably just normal.

And I started thinking about the things that I want to keep doing, forever.

  • I want to hike mountains

  • I want to be athletic

  • I want to be strong

  • I want to be smart

  • I want to be excited

Forever.

So that means I just can’t stop…

Don’t stop and my body will be able to handle long hikes, playing basketball, playing pickup basketball and all of the other athletic experiences I enjoy.

I have to keep reading, learning, having dynamic conversations about growth and surrounding myself with aspirational people.

I have to keep finding joy in the small things, excitement about achievements, energy in ideas.

I remember getting my tattoo at 18 and a friend says, “What’s going to happen when you’re fat?”

“I’m never going to get fat.”

I love my life right now because my life is filled with all of the activities I enjoy.

So if I want to love my life in the future, I can’t settle for less enjoyable activities.

It’s a lot easier to maintain than to gain.

Losing weight is harder than keeping it off.

Maintaining strength is easier than building it.

So what are those things you want to keep doing forever? Don’t stop.

This is part of a larger internal dialogue about goals.

Where do I want to be in five years?

What do I want to accomplish?

What’s on my impossible list?

How do I keep doing it?
