I Want to Build Something Together So F-ing Bad
It’s Time to Build is an epic blog post just recently shared by uber-entrepreneur Marc Andreessen.
“Every step of the way, to everyone around us, we should be asking the question, what are you building? What are you building directly, or helping other people to build, or teaching other people to build, or taking care of people who are building?
If the work you’re doing isn’t either leading to something being built or taking care of people directly, we’ve failed you, and we need to get you into a position, an occupation, a career where you can contribute to building.
There are always outstanding people in even the most broken systems — we need to get all the talent we can on the biggest problems we have, and on building the answers to those problems.” - Marc Andreessen’s blog post It’s Time to Build
I’m a creator.
To bring ideas to life, to formulate thoughts in my mind, to see an opportunity, to understand the pieces falling in to place to birth a project into the world, is, I fully believe, one of the most magical experiences…
Second only to literally bringing a child into the world, which is the ultimate form of creation.
One of the reasons for this is ownership and autonomy.
Here’s a quick video I recorded a few months back talking about this idea:
The energy that comes from bringing an idea to life is eternal fuel.
When there’s a gap between what exists now and what can be, the space is filled with potential energy that’s more powerful than coffee, self-help books, motivational videos or inspiring podcasts.
This article by Marc Andreessen “It’s Time to Build” captures this idea of building and shares a massive call to action.
To change the way things are, we creators have to step up and build something.
The powerful part is that we are all creators.
In some way or another, you have the ability to participate in the creation process.
Yeah, things are fucked up and broken….
But whining and bitching about the broken system isn’t going to do anything.
We, each and every one of us, has to contribute to (re)building.
It’s our duty to our heritage, to those that came before us, to step up…. that means you.
Our forefathers and foremothers built roads and trains, farms and factories, then the computer, the microchip, the smartphone, and uncounted thousands of other things that we now take for granted, that are all around us, that define our lives and provide for our well-being.
There is only one way to honor their legacy and to create the future we want for our own children and grandchildren, and that’s to build.” - Marc Andreessen
I Want to Build Something Together
Together.
I messed up with the early stages of LIVE A GREAT STORY and somehow never built a team, even though I wanted to so bad. I just didn’t do it.
It’s a huge regret, though it might still happen.
In this time of ‘Rona I’ve reflected on this regret while observing other companies and businesses band together, building together.
I’ve voiced this a lot recently, actually saying it with my mouth…
“I want to be a co-founder. I want to build something, together.”
I’m not sure about the future of LIVE A GREAT STORY.
We’re kinda fucked right now because I’m trying to save it…. alone. There might be one last fight to make it work, but maybe not. It’s evolving, and if does, it most definitely will be a together.
But if not, I want to be part of something out there. I want to contribute my energy, my ideas, my superpowers, my experience, my lessons, my failures, my vision… and I want to build something, together.
So if you’re reading this and you have ideas on building something…
Hit me up.
Let’s build.
