Zach Horvath Common Vandal LIVE A GREAT STORY

Hi.

Let’s chat about the rollercoaster of life and how amazing it is to be on the ride

Five eCommerce Tips

Five eCommerce Tips

These are 5 lessons I’ve learned from selling things online

1. Run retargeting ads

First of all, you definitely need your Facebook pixel set up.

This should be obvious.

That way people come to your website, look around, don’t buy anything but the pixel knows people visited and you can find them, again.

This is the basics of “retargeting”.

The good thing about retargeting is that you can do this for at minimum $3/day…

And usually, that investment will return at 3x-8x

Anddddd it’s super easy!

So most likely, for a $90/month investment, you can make about $300-$500 return.

2. Resend sales email to non-openers

You send a sales email for a new product, a seasonal discount or some other promotion.

Average open rates vary from 12-30% so that means only a small fraction of your email list opened the email.

They didn’t open it because they were too busy, didn’t see it or your subject wasn’t good enough.

So resend it the next day with a different subject.

Maybe those same people will see it / have time / be enticed to open.

This is an easyyy way to pick up a few more sales.

3. Lots of small items > one big item (usually)

Hat tip to Noah Marion for this tip, kinda.

I was talking to him about opening up a LIVE A GREAT STORY Store (he vehemently shot down my idea, thankfully).

But one key pointer he theorized is that I would do OK because of all the knick-knacks I have.

He said one of the most successful stores he knows is one that has hundreds of small, low-cost items instead of his few high-priced items.

Why?

It’s a lottt easier to justify buying a $12 keychain, a $10 button pack and some $4 koozies than a $80 button down.

Or…

Once you buy that $80 shirt, maybe add on that $12 keychain.

So regardless of what you sell, try to add some smaller low-cost items to boost that AOV.

4. Automate social posts

Spend an hour or two scheduling that month’s Insta and Facebook posts.

Save yourself tons of time and headaches.

Planoly is free and Facebook has native scheduling.

5. Heavily weigh UGC

In a time of polished and sexy content that looks nothing like what you can produce, do the opposite.

People like seeing themselves in your brand, so give them themselves, kinda.

Firstly, the non-sales-y content bypasses protective barriers we’ve established to keep us safe. It’s the same reason the selfie video on an iPhone works better than a highly polished, expensive camera video.

Secondly, those getting republished loveeeee it. They’re proud of the photo so you get big bonus points and go deep with an already raving fan.

Try it.
